Shop Local Grant

Back in June, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, announced the launch of Shop Local, a Canada-wide investment of $33 million to encourage Canadians to shop locally.

The Atlantic Chamber of Commerce (ACC) will distribute nearly $2.7 million in grants to local chambers and non-profit associations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador to fund campaigns that drive shop local awareness and increase local spending.

I’m pleased to announce that the Lunenburg Board of Trade has been approved for funding through this initiative. Some of the things we will be using this funding for include:

·         shop-local branding and digital content

·         seasonal campaign intended to direct shoppers to local small merchants

·         marketing materials such as social media visuals and radio and newspaper ads that encourage consumers to buy from local businesses and patronize local restaurants and attractions

Local vendors and businesses will be hired to help create and promote this campaign and we will also be looking for campaign participation from the local business community which will help spread the word and further the local economy.

This campaign will begin this fall and run until mid to late December of 2021. More details will be released as they are finalized.

Best,
